Marksmith Pro is designed with privacy in mind. Your data stays on your computer - I don't collect or store student information, marking data, or mark scheme content.

Website Usage

When you visit this website, basic technical information may be logged by my hosting provider (IONOS), including:

• IP address
• Browser type and version
• Pages visited and time spent
• Referring website

This data is used solely for security and troubleshooting purposes.

License Purchases

When you purchase a license, I collect:

• Your name and email address
• School or institution name (if provided)
• Payment information (processed by my payment provider, not stored by me)

This information is used to:

• Send you your license code
• Provide customer support
• Send important updates about Marksmith Pro (you can opt out)

Application Data

Marksmith Pro stores your marking data locally. All student names, marking data, mark schemes, and comments are stored on your computer or your school's own storage only. I cannot access this data.

The app may contact marksmithpro.co.uk to check whether a newer version is available. That update check does not send student, class, marking, or licence data.

The application does not:

• Send student, class, or marking data to external servers
• Collect personal analytics or telemetry
• Require an internet connection for marking or licence validation

I may record an anonymous count when the app checks for updates, so I can see whether updates are being checked. This is not linked to your licence, school, students, or marking data.

License Information

Email addresses provided during purchase are used only for:

• Sending your license code
• Responding to support requests
• Notifying you of critical updates (rarely, and you can opt out)

I Will Never:

• Sell or share your information with third parties
• Send spam or unsolicited marketing
• Access your student data or marking information
• Track your application usage

Your Marking Data: Stored locally on your computer in the application's data folder. I recommend regular backups.

License Information: Stored securely and used only for license validation and support.

Email Communications: Handled through standard email providers with encryption in transit.

Under UK data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data I hold about you
• Rectification: Correct any inaccurate personal data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
• Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format

Marksmith Pro is designed for teachers and education professionals. While the software may be used to record student names and assessment data, this information is stored locally on your computer and is never transmitted to me.

Teachers using Marksmith Pro are responsible for ensuring their use complies with their school's data protection policies and relevant regulations (including GDPR if applicable).

This website does not use cookies for tracking or analytics. Any cookies set are strictly necessary for basic website functionality (such as session management if I implement user accounts in future).
